Day 81: Ciao Italia

Today is the day. Day number 81. The last.
Alessandra woke me up at 7am and then we were all ready to go to the airport. Arrived in plenty of time checked in okay and they didn't charge me extra even though my bag was overweight hooray! Said goodbye to all of them, Bea cried which made me feel very loved :).
Got through to the duty free. No magazines in English :/. To then find out that my flight has been delayed by an hour. Nooo. Why Ryanair? There isn't even a burgerking or McDonald's to waste my time in. Plus the wifi sucks it doesn't work properly.
Got on the plane okay. Nice flight! Excited to be back in England hopefully these next three weeks in Wakefield will be good :) last minute shopping for Lizi's wedding tomorrow and an early night!

Day 1: Arrival

Milan is fantastic. It's such a beautiful city full of amazing buildings.
The family I'm staying with are so nice and kind and friendly. I feel so welcome already!
The weather is great nice and warm - warm enough to eat dinner outside at 9pm and not be cold!
The flight was really good, two hours trouble free, no turbulence hooray! The views were amazing from the window seat where I was sat. When we flew over the Alps it was so beautiful. Even though we were so high up the mountains were still huge and you could see all the snow.

Up in the air you realise how crowded England is and how lovely and rural Europe is the contrast was huge. Fun point England's large greeny hilly areas look like the polystyrene florist blocks from an airplane!

The good is fantastic! Carbonara for lunch and a chicken courgette potato meal for dinner. The seasoning was so good, it was delicious.
Really enjoying my first day here. I was took all around the city to see the children's schools, the library and other places of interest and treated to an Italian sim.

One brilliant day down and luckily so many more amazing days to go!

Ciao.

Late Nights and Early Mornings

Well today is the day. After very little sleep I tumbled out of bed finished packing my already stuffed suitcases and toddled off to the airport.

Airports are so boring if you are in them by yourself. What is there to do? So I'm sat alone in an overpriced fast food outlet, drinking overpriced lemonade to keep myself awake. At least it's working.

Thankfully they have free wifi. What would we do without that! At least this is providing some entertainment. And enabling me to write my first blog post.

This summer promises to be possibly my best summer yet. Au pairing for three months in Italy may sound like a chore for some but I am totally looking forward to it. The family I'm staying with are so nice and lovely and genuinely excited to have me over. They are even taking me on holiday with them to Tuscany. I feel so incredibly lucky.

The plane flight should be okay it's only two hours which is nice though Italy is an hour ahead so I kind of lose three hours. On the plus side on the way back I lose an hour so closer to bedtime! But that's a long way away - three months in fact!

I'm going to try and lean Italian it would be silly not to. It's a lovely language and I already know a bit, some if the basics: ciao, Arrivederci, buongiorno, grazie. Enough to help me get by for now anyway.

Why is everyone so loud at the airport? I know they must be excited for their holidays or whatever but it's like 5 in the morning!!! They should be half asleep. Like me.

I will try and keep this blog updated as I'm in Italy to keep everyone posted on what I'm doing. Have a fun summer guys!

My overpriced drink. £2.15 for a regular! Airport prices stink.
